Lately, I've been seeing more and more people on social media and in blogging communities asking things like, "Does Google hate AI-generated articles?" It's true that some websites have seen major drops in ranking since Google's recent core updates, so it's easy to assume that AI might be to blame.
But personally, I think it's a little more nuanced than that. It might not be about whether you're using AI or not—but rather *how* you're using it.
Google Isn't Saying "No AI"—It's Saying "No Low-Value Content"
Google has never explicitly said, "AI-generated content is banned." What they *have* said is that they're cracking down on:
- Pages that offer no real value to users
- Thin or repetitive content created at scale
- Articles that feel like they could have been written by anyone
So from my perspective, it's not about AI per se—it's about content that doesn't help the reader. And unfortunately, a lot of auto-generated content falls into that category.
So What Kind of AI Usage Actually Works?
This is just based on my experience, but here's what I think works well:
✅ Start with your own experiences or research, then use AI to polish the structure
✅ Let AI assist with phrasing or layout—but not do all the thinking
✅ Keep your own tone of voice and writing style throughout
In short, I believe that AI should be treated as a *support tool*, not a *replacement*. Think of it like having a helpful co-writer, not a ghostwriter.
For Example: The Way I Use AI on This Site
Yes—I use AI to help write some of the articles here. But:
- The topics come from my own ideas and experiences
- The data (like product tests, card pull rates, etc.) comes from things I actually did
- I always decide on the structure, wording, and overall vibe myself
So even if AI is involved, I believe the final result is still *very human-driven*. And I’d like to think Google can tell the difference.
Conclusion: It’s Not "AI vs SEO." It’s About Value.
✅ Using AI doesn't automatically mean you'll rank lower
✅ But publishing low-value content—AI or not—can hurt your site
✅ Real insight, personality, and helpfulness still matter the most
That’s just how I see it. I'm sure Google's guidelines will keep evolving, but as long as we stay focused on the reader and use AI responsibly, I don’t think we need to be afraid of using these tools.
What do you think? I’m genuinely curious how others are approaching this balance.
